Three steps to prepare financially after highschool
There is a lot that happens over the course of highschool and it tends to fly by quite fast. This means having a plan for what you do after highschool is VERY important as it will make sure you dont lose track of what you are doing and it will make your life easier.
Here is my three step plan to prepare for life after highschool
Step 1:
I will start with getting a job in the summer. This is so I can start saving money and putting most of it (80%) into a savings account to accumulate some extra on top of working, while also having some on the side for myself. this comes with the added benefit of getting me used to doing things like keeping track of money and gaining the experience of whatever job i get. for example if i work as a cashier, I would get experience with counting money and interacting with people.
Step 2:
While still working, I would start focusing on working towards the requirements (Gr 12 Math - MCT4C, and Gr 12 english) that my chosen career path demands by increasing my marks and practicing in those fields. This way I will be able to do the course, and also have more experience and be more familiar when I start the course. during this i will also research ways to invest my money to further gain income.
Step 3:
Before finishing highschool, I will make a budget to track my expenses and make sure im not over spending or spending money on useless things. i will also set aside money for an emergency fund in case anything goes sour. using these tools i will watch my money heavily. I will also continue to invest and earn money on the side.
